THIRTY-five air cadets were praised for their high standards during their annual inspection at Crelake Cadet Centre, Tavistock. Wing Commander Francis Reis, officer in charge of Plymouth and Cornwall Wing Air Training Corps, toured all sections of the unit. Drill movements and uniform were checked by Graham Ross, deputy wing warrant officer. Squadron projects were demonstrated including soldering, making an electrical system, building maintenance, plastic and balsa aircraft kits, a new flight simulator, drumming and robotics. In his final address, Wg Cdr Reis paid tribute to the high standard of the cadets' uniform and the commitment of the adult staff. Fifteen cadets were presented with certificates for gaining their leading or senior cadet and health and safety awards. Seven cadets were formally enrolled into the squadron by the wing chaplain Rev Brian Anderson, and were presented with their Record of Service book. All Air Cadet Units in the area are keen to recruit adult staff with a view to going into a uniformed post — no previous service experience necessary.
