AN Okehampton man who is in training to complete a gruelling trek in Africa next month will be explaining all about the amazing challenge at a special event next week.
Phil Bush is inviting people to come and hear about the Trek Sinai charity challenge he will be undertaking next month.
The Sinai Trek will involve the walkers covering 50-55 miles in five days over fairly difficult terrain, much of it off-road through the Sinai Peninsula in Egypt.
Phil said: 'It will take all my resources of energy and stamina but I am inspired to achieve this for a very good cause — all in support of two projects, the Nazareth Hospital in Galilee and the Bethany Trust in Edinburgh, who work with vulnerable and homeless people.'
Phil has said all sponsorship raised will go directly to the charities.
Phil has lived in Okehampton for 15 years and is a self-employed carpenter and joiner working from Hatherleigh.
An evening of fun and food with Phil takes place next Thursday (February 26) between 7.30-9pm at Okehampton Baptist Church.
Entry is free but Phil is hoping to attract more sponsorship ahead of the trek.
For more information about the evening or the trek, contact Phil on 01837 52705.
Alternatively, donations can also be made via Mr and Mrs Cornish , W J Cornish Jewellers, 12 Fore Street, Okehampton. Cheques should be made payable to 'EMMS Trek'.
