FUNDRAISING in the Bere Peninsula has reached new horizons with Regain?s great ?Africa Bike Ride?. The charity Regain is dedicated to helping improve the independence of people who have become severely paralysed due to a sporting accident. Regain buys equipment to help support people who have become disabled and enable them to lead more fulfilled, independent lives. Dr Neil Harmsworth from Bere Alston recently took part in a cycle ride of 400km from the base of Mt Kenya to that of Lake Victoria in aid of Regain. He had to raise £600 to be able to participate. Both disabled and able bodied cyclists rode together on rough, tough terrain ? on and off-road situations. Should anyone still wish to donate to this charity contact Dr Harmsworth through his former Bere Alston Medical Practice. Bere Alston practice is delighted to announce they received £128.70 during the flu innoculation clinics. This will be sent to the East Asian Earthquake Appeal, with the donations received on November 18 going to the ?Children in Need Appeal?.
