A MEETING to discuss the prospects for affordable housing development in Sticklepath is being held next week. John Packer, West Devon Borough Council's affordable housing champion, said: 'We have identified a need for a small number of local needs homes in Sticklepath. Affordable housing is a massive issue across the borough.' An area within the village playing field, which is owned by the council, has been identified as a possibly suitable site. So that all parishioners have the opportunity to air their views on the subject, an open meeting will be held in the village hall on Wednesday, January 24, at 7pm. Val Barns, clerk to Sticklepath Parish Council which has organised the meeting, said councillors wanted to hear the views of the people before discussing the issue further. Any proposed planning application for a local needs housing development would also have to be considered by Dartmoor National Park Authority. Any residents who have a view but either cannot attend the meeting or would prefer to write, can leave letters at the village hall, the village shop or by writing to Mrs Barns. She can be contacted by telephone on 01837 840123 or by e-mail at: [email protected]">[email protected]
