LOCAL authors Patricia Fawcett and Myfanwy Cook will be sharing their knowledge and experience of the writers' craft by hosting workshops at Tavistock Library next month to help aspiring novelists.

On Saturday, November 2 from 2pm to 3.30pm, best-selling novelist Patricia Fawcett will talking about how to write a great first chapter, one of the most important factors in getting work published.

She will use examples drawn from her latest novel Best Laid Plans.

On Saturday, November 9 from 10am to noon, Myfanwy Cook, author of the influential resource book Historical Fiction Writing and features editor of the Historical Novels Review, will be looking at the secrets of successful historical novels, using the history of Tavistock's Goose Fair as a theme.

Places on the workshops will be limited to ten attendees per day, so early booking is recommended to avoid disappointment.
