SIXTH form students at Tavistock College were treated to a broad range of visitors at the recent higher education and employers' advice day held at the school.
Parents, local employers and representatives from the police, army, law firm Bond Dickinson, Babcock, Theatre Royal, volunteering and travel organisation Changing Worlds and an advisor from The Money Charity ran sessions and took part in a fair to give students vital advice and tips to help them to make decisions and prepare for their futures.
Specialist careers advisers were also available to help the students work out their priorities and begin to navigate their own ways through the exciting but highly complex sea of choices available in the modern world.
These career and apprenticeship oppor-tunities were complemented by talks and advice about higher education from advisers from Southampton, Exeter, Plymouth, Marjon and Falmouth universities, plus from City Plymouth College and Duchy College.
James O'Connell, head of sixth form, said: 'This is the first year we have run this event in this way and had such a range of speakers and advisers on offer.
'We're really grateful for the generous support and time given by so many people, particularly employers and parents from our community.
'Our students really appreciated the event and many are now making real plans for life after school, with renewed enthusiasm for their academic courses.
'We will look to build on the success of this event in future years.'
