A TAVISTOCK man last week pleaded guilty to six charges of downloading indecent images of children onto a home computer. Plymouth magistrates heard that John Edward Ellis, 35, of Plymouth Road, used a credit card to obtain pictures of around 1,000 children between April 2003 and October 2004. Some of the images were supplied by an American company under investigation by US police ? they informed British authorities when they discovered Ellis?s credit card details. Police armed with a warrant searched Ellis?s home address and seized his computer ? magistrates were told most of the images were in the least serious category ? one was of a more serious nature. The court heard the defendant had no previous convictions and had co-operated with the police. Ellis was remanded on conditional bail ? he is due to be sentenced on February 1, pending probation office reports.
