A TEENAGER who fought another man in the street despite having two broken wrists broke a shop window, a court heard.

Alex Chesters, 19, admitted causing criminal damage in Tavistock on September 9.

He also admitted breaching a conditional discharge for an earlier offence of aggravated vehicle taking.

Gareth Warden, for the Crown Prosecution Service, said police were called to a fight in West Street.

He said they found Chesters, who is homeless but comes from Tavistock, sitting opposite a broken shop window, measuring about a metre square.

Mr Warden said that Chesters was agitated and appeared under the influence of drink, but he admitted smashing the window with his right elbow. He added that he broke it after a fight with his former best friend.

Hannah Turner, for Chesters, said he was 'somewhat immature' and had poor problem-solving skills. She added that he had broken both wrists some months ago and the joints were swollen and painful.

Magistrates gave him a 12-month community order with a requirement that he goes to the senior attendance centre for 36 hours.
