AT the recent Devon and Cornwall indoor Archery Championships at the Kitto Centre Plymouth, Tavistock archers did there club proud.

Most of the juniors were taking part in there first ever tournament and came away with a few medals.

In the junior girls' freestyle section Mabel Barclay came first with a score of 525, and in the junior boys section Andrew Speare came second with a score of 541; however due to an arrow passing straight through the target he would have beaten the winner by five points as this arrow was counted as a miss. Also in this category Sam Ball scored 520 and came fifth.

In the U14s boys section Tom Barclay came second with a score of 325 which was a great achievement for his first tournament.

In the Ladies long bow section, Jane Forrow came fifth with a score of 243 and in the gents' freestyle section Graeme Barclay came 28th out of a large field.

To add to this the Tavistock team of Graeme Barclay, Mabel Barclay, Andrew Speare and Sam Ball won the Recurve team event with a score of 2,060.
