Devon and Exeter Senior Okehampton 1st 3 Beer Albion 1 BEER Albion came to Okehampton hoping to close the gap on their opponents, but it was Okehampton that took the points and kept their unbeaten run going with a really good display of possession football. Okehampton kept to a trusted 4-4-2 formation and played with a lot of determination. The back four of Chris Wills, Graham Soby, James Williams and Mike Vernon supported by Daniel Malcolm in goal all worked hard to contain a lively young Beer side that enjoyed the better of the early exchanges. Okehampton?s first goal came from a good Steve Williams cross into the penalty area, and it was Adam Mortimore who muscled his way in to put the ball in the net on 33 minutes. Okehampton?s second goal came from some superb passing when Chris Wills found Paul Yip on the right side of midfield. Yip showed a good turn of pace and delivered a pin point cross for Adam Mortimore to pick his spot and head past the Beer keeper. At the start of the second half Okehampton continued to dominate with Robert Sandercock, Phillip Evans and Steve Kinsey controlling play in midfield, but it was Beer that pulled a goal back when their No7 hit a powerful shot past the Okehampton keeper. With 10 minutes of the game remaining Okehampton had to find another gear. They did this, and Steve Kinsey did really well to work an opening for himself, delivering a good ball to Adam Mortimore who completed his hat-trick securing the points for Argyle. This week home to Clyst Valley in the Cup, kick-off 2pm.
