TAVISTOCK boy Adam John, swimming for Plymouth Leander, left the remainder of the country under no illusions as to his intentions come this summer?s National Championships, with several outstanding performances at the recent Sheffield Premier Meet. John?s effort in the 13 years 200m Backstroke (2:17.88) is the third fastest performance of all time from a British athlete. John?s efforts in the 200m Backstroke was one of five gold medals secured by him at the meet and the performance also saw him take second in the Junior final (finals were 14 and under) of the event. He was then to move on and claim further golds in the 13 years 1500m Freestyle (17:36.32), 400m Freestyle (4:27.81), 400m IM (5:08.65) and 100m Backstroke (1:06.66), the latter also seeing John take third spot in the Junior final (14 and Under). John was to ultimately finish third in the Top Male Swimmer Award across all age groups.
