IF YOU go down to the woods with OCRA this summer, you will be able to try your hand at pond dipping, canoeing on Alder Lake and following a woodland trail. Okehampton Community Recreational Association (OCRA) are again providing a wide range of summer holiday activities for young people, this year including a woodland adventure day. The activities run from 10am-3pm on Friday, September 1. The cost is £10, for more information contact OCRA on 01837 54546. OCRA are running sport and art days in Okehampton for those from six up to 14 years of age throughout the summer holidays. Football, netball, squash, trampolining, tae-kwando and climbing and assault course are just some of the sports being run during the days. For those who like art, there are lots of activities to try out, including clay, collage, painting, sewing and mask-making. Sessions run through August on Tuesdays and Thursdays. On Wednesday, August 23, a basketball camp will be running in Okehampton. Between 10am-3pm, those with an interest in the game can get skills coaching and take part in hoop-based fun and games. On Thursday, August 24, OCRA is hosting a tennis day with skills, games and competitions for those aged eight and over. Eight to fourteen-year-olds who fancy themselves as budding Panesars or Flintoffs can join the cricket coaching camp on August 31. Plymouth Argyle are also running a football camp on August 29-30, featuring skills, games, competitions, prizes and certificates for young players.
