A TAVISTOCK College student has successfully completed a special award designed to support his individual needs.

Drew Spratt achieved the ASDAN Personal and Social Development Level 1 Certificate which helps students gain confidence and grow emotionally and socially. The nationally-recognised award is 100% coursework and is usually taken instead of GCSEs.

Teaching assistant Carol Smith said: 'Congratulations to Drew; it was such a good thing for him to achieve.

'Here in college he had good support from teaching assistants and we've now got eight students in Year 10 doing ASDAN Key Skills qualifications which are geared towards their own needs.'

ASDAN is a charitable social enterprise offering qualifications for those aged 11 to 25.
