Hatherleigh branch of a national charity has been awarded a certificate for their champion fundraising efforts this year.

Hatherleigh and District Save the Children Fund achieved a 24 per cent increase in their fundraising during SCF week, despite being at the centre of the foot and mouth crisis.

Branch members were awarded the certificate by Mike Aarenson, director general of SCF, at the charity's regional conference, held at Buckfast Abbey recently.

The next fundraising event is a visit from Exeter Police Choir, who will perform a concert at Hatherleigh Methodist Church at 7.30pm on November 22.
