CADETS and staff from 2443 Okehampton Squadron Air Cadets enjoyed their annual Dining In Night last month.

The evening was held at the Fox and Hounds, Bridestowe, and following a meal the annual awards were presented prior to skittles — and a snowball fight.

The squadron enjoyed a busy and successful year with cadets participating in many local events, including summer camps both in the UK and abroad.

They also participated in the International Air Cadet Exchange Scheme, shooting, sports and many other activities.

Following a change of command in July the squadron is now under the command of Flying Officer Sarah Cohen, a former cadet of the squadron.

The squadron has now resumed from its Christmas break and would welcome any new cadets aged between 13 and 17 who may be interested in joining with opportunities to participate in numerous activities.

These include flying, gliding, sports, shooting, adventure training and summer camps.

The awards went to the following cadets: Sports cadet of the year, Izzy Ewen; achievement award, Harley Bradford; marksman award, Jacob Bedford; cadet of the year, Jon Aylen, and smartest cadet, Joe Edwards.

The Initiative award went to Flight Sergeant Stacey Pavely.

Cadet Izzy Ewen was also promoted to Cadet Corporal and both Phil Reynolds and Henry Bedford were promoted to Glight Sergeant.
