FOR the third year in succession, a group of talented craftspeople have been inspired to come to Chagford for the Wonderworks Christmas Craft Fair. Wonderworks was the inspiration of a group of quality professional craftspeople who come mainly from the South West, and the first two fairs met with an enthusiastic response from exhibitors and visitors alike. This year there will be a wide range of crafts on show and for sale. Anne Farag?s handcrafted silver jewellery, Helyne Jennings? laminated paper and silk, and Sheila Churchill?s jewellery made from natural materials such as stone, shell and wood. Textiles include Jenny Hutchison?s beautiful quilts in strong, bright colours, Yuli Somme?s felt wall-hangings and accessories, clothing created by Paula Clegg and Ann Prince, bags and cushions by Sam Pickard and Kate Halliday, Ione Rucquoi?s inspired fashion prints and Ann Satow?s evocative woven textiles. In the field of ceramics, there will be displays of domestic pottery by Tessa Rubbra and Virginia Richards and decorative, though often also functional pieces by Ali Hirst, Gilda Westermann, Jan Lye, Sunya Burnham and Abigail North. Furniture makers Jon Getz, Chris Waters, Glen Rushbrooke and Samantha Robb all have contemporary pieces in a variety of materials. The fair will be held in the Jubilee Hall, Chagford on Saturday, November 12, between 10am and 6pm and Sunday, November 13, 10am to 4pm. There will be a café available through the two days of the fair. There will also be the opportunity to visit some local workshops and studios which will be open during the weekend.
