I FELT I had to write, as today I saw something that I have not seen for a long time.
Whilst walking down to the town this morning one of our little buses pulled up by the medical centre.
The driver stepped down from his cab into the road and walked round to the passenger door. He helped an elderly gentleman down to the kerb.
I thought this a noble gesture that we see too little of these days. But, not only did he see the gentleman down, but took his arm and walked him across to the other side of the road before returning to his cab.
I honestly wanted to applaud the driver as he drove past me, because for that moment I thought chivalry lives on in Okehampton. If I knew his licence number I would print it out in bold letters.
Well done, driver. It's nice to know that there are a few left out there who know that courtesy and care cost nothing!
