A FAMILY gathering took place in Bere Alston recently to celebrate the coming together of five generations of females in one family.

Phyllis Friend, 86, was joined by family members from across the country to welcome the newest addition to the family — her great great granddaughter Mia Clark, 10 months old.

Mrs Friend was also joined by her daughter Patricia Leigh and her great granddaughter Pamela Vanderzee. Unfortunately only four out of five of the generations could attend the gathering as Mrs Friend's granddaughter Mandy Vanderzee was unable to attend the celebration.
