A COFFEE and cake morning held in Whitchurch recently was deemed a huge success as part of fundraising for Help for Heroes.
Claire Pitcher is running the London Marathon for the charity in April and organised the Coffee and Cake event to boost her fundraising.
Claire said: 'The event was an enormous success thanks to the generosity of the many people who supported it. Special thanks go to the local businesses who generously gave to the raffle, including Odds and Suds, Jane's Cakes, Active and Co, Ellis Bakery, the Hair Lounge, Alice, of Vaughans Beauty Salon, Aquarious Jewellery, the Whitchurch Inn, Tolleys of Tavistock, Bryants, Root and Vine, Rockin Beads Jewellery and Country Cheeses.
'St Andrew's Women's Institute also deserves a special mention for their generous support with home-made cakes, fudge and jams on the day, needless to say these were sold very quickly.
'Finally thanks to the many friends and supporters who came on the day, enjoying a slice or two of home-made cake. This truly was a community event with many people coming together to do their bit for our wounded service personnel — so thank you all for your support.'
Donations are still welcome towards Claire's fundraising efforts, anyone who would like to donate can do so by visiting http://www.bmycharity.com/clairepitcher">www.bmycharity.com/clairepitcher
