A BUSINESS man from Okehampton last week drove away with the best vehicle award from a national festival. David Bird, who owns Transmobile Garage, entered into the Volkswagen competition which is held over the Run to the Sun weekend in Newquay from Friday, June 23 to Monday, June 26. David, 52, entered his Beach Buggy into the competition along with 200 other vehicles from around the country and won the Show 'n' Shine 2008 award due to the car's engineering, its detail and overall first class appearance. David, who lives in Okehampton, said: 'This is the second time with different vehicles that I have won the award. 'The first was for the 66 Beetle running a Porsche engine. 'This is quite an achievement to win this award as vehicles come from all over the country.' The festival saw five judges from various VW magazines.
