THE Okehampton Mens' A tennis team capped off a successful year with a comfortable 8-0 victory against Budleigh Salterton in their final match of the season.
Paul Love and Adam Richards raced to a 6-0 6-2 win in their first match and despite having a slight scare in the second set against Budleigh's strongest pairing, came through and won their second match 6-2 7-5.
Andy Herrod-Taylor and Dan Arnot also recorded straight set victories in both their matches, winning 6-1 6-3 in the first match and 6-1 6-4 in the second.
The successful Oke team won ten of their 12 matches this season and finished 21 points above the team in second place.
Adam Richards, a spokesman for the club said they are now looking forward to the challenge that division two will hold next year.
All of the matches in the Exeter and District Tennis League have now been played with Okehampton Ladies' A team finishing in a creditable third place. For the majority of the season Okehampton found themselves unexpectedly at the top of the table but two tough matches at the end of the season put paid to any promotion hopes. The team is delighted with third place and are looking forward to playing in the same division once again next season.
