LAMERTON fundraisers have amassed £7,500 towards their new sports and community centre since April of this year.

Recent events have been a Lamerton landscape painting auction and a cider and pasty supper, with others since April including a wine and cheese evening, duck race, barn dance, grand draw and fortnightly coffee mornings.

Chairperson of the Lamerton Parish Hall committee Valerie Hill said they were ?very grateful to everyone? who constantly contributed to making the events so highly successful and enjoyable.

The painting auction, held at the home of Mr and Mrs N Collier at Court Farmhouse on Friday, August 27, was a silent auction of many painting and drawings painted and donated by people of all ages from Lamerton and the surrounding area. This raised £635.35.

The cider and pasty supper included a harvest auction and was held at Hurlditch Court by kind permission of Mr and Mrs C Godfrey on Friday, September 3. David Kivell and Peter Palmer auctioned the produce and special items that had been donated and the event raised £1,500.

It is intended to build the new sports and community centre on the Recreation Field in the village.
