NATIONAL Carers Week will be highlighted in Tavistock next week, when the local support group has a stall in the pannier market. The group will be raising awareness of the work of carers on Tuesday (June 12) and there will also be a tombola to boost funds to give carers some respite. On June 11 there is a service for carers? week at Exeter Cathedral. The Tavistock support group meets twice a month in Kingdon House, Tavistock. In the summer members go out and about on river trips and visit sites of interest including gardens and National Trust properties. Throughout the winter there are visits by speakers talking on a range of subjects and help and information is given to enable carers to get the benefits and support they are entitled to. The stall will be manned by carers and people are being urged to go along on Tuesday and have a chat. Anyone who cannot make it and would like to find out more about the group can contact treasurer Pam Olive on 01822 840833.
