TAVISTOCK veteran bowler Stuart Munday celebrates his 40th season with the club this Sunday - and to mark the occasion, his old friend, former Devon opening bowler Keith Donohue, is bringing a Devon League XI to the Ring for a game against the home club.

Munday joined Tavistock in July 1964 from his local club, Whitchurch, and is now the Devon League?s longest serving player.

His business interests include Spanish property company Atlas International South West, who are Tavistock?s main sponsor.

Munday was also instrumental in bringing Alan Searle and Colin Mortimore to the club, following the break-up of Bovey Tracey CC, along with young South African bowler Orin Roestorff.

Jack Davey, formerly of Gloucester CCC and a Tavy old boy, will adjudicate the man of the match award, while another of Munday?s friends, North Devon test umpire David Shepherd, will also attend.

Munday?s main ambition is to play for a few more seasons, including Devon Over 50s, and to see Tavistock back in the Premier League, enabling it to play on the county?s best grounds.

Sunday?s game at the Ring starts at 11.30am.
