Tavistock A 2
Caradon 1
TAVISTOCK 'A' have had a torrid start to the season, and arrived at the Kelly College pitch determined to notch up their first win. They looked the more skillful, but were slow to open the scoring.
The first penalty corner of the match saw Adam Holland fire the ball wide of the goal for Josh Reynolds to deflect. The ensuing rebound came back to Holland who this time shot. Reynolds got his stick in the way and the ball was in the goal.
Caradon began to edge back into the game. Solid keeping from Neil Kelly kept them away until they managed to squeeze a field goal in after some loose marking.
The second half saw a confident Tavistock side moving the ball fast, especially when attacking. A straight ball into the 'D' was deftly touched by Mark Wheatley and Tavistock took a 2-1 lead.
Tavistock looked likely to score on several other occasions. A spectacular effort from Tom Unwin was disallowed and a crashing shot from Dave Anning ricocheted off the crossbar.
The 2-1 final score looks likely to mark a change in fortune for Tavistock's 'A' team. Man of the match was keenly contested and deservedly went to keeper Neil Kelly.
