ALMOST 100 people packed into St Paul's Church Hall in Yelverton recently for a new informal style service.

[email protected] is a new service for everyone and is deliberately informal with bacon butties, tea and coffee to start followed by a short service. The service, which was attended by 91 people, concentrated on the story of Jesus stilling the storm and included games and craft work.

The Rev Preb Nick Shutt, Rector of West Dartmoor Benefice, said: 'This service exceeded our expectations.

'It was so good to see so many people having a good time and joining in with everything from parachute games to origami as part of the service and leaving with smiles on their faces.

'It is interactive but not just for children.

'I saw many adults who were determined to finish their origami boats.

'We hope that we can build on this good start and we are looking forward to our next service on June 17 at 9.30am in St Paul's Church Hall.

'Next month we will be looking for lost sheep. What could be more fitting for a theme as we are surrounded by sheep on the moor.'
