TAVISTOCK Hockey Club recently held their presentation evening.
For the second year the club was given a warm welcome by the Ordulph Arms in Tavistock. There was much to celebrate this year in the form of the 2002 division 2 Mixed Summer League champions and the ladies? first team topping their division, both gaining deserved promotion.
A much improved ladies? second team were also well represented along with the men?s first and second eleven. The speeches matched the performance of the teams with most captains in fine voice, the absent men?s first skipper allowed Mr Cowan to enlighten the gathering of the their tour to Ireland.
This year a new cup was added to the silverware, The Chairman?s Cup, presented to Fiona Dunn for her continued hard work throughout the year for the club, and in recognition for the ladies? first team promotion.
The evening was rounded off with a disco.
Awards were presented to Kevin Lethbridge, Thomas Honey, Phil Edwards, Fiona Dunn, Becky Creasey, Becky Hutton, Emma Bowden,Laura Armstrong, Steve Moise, Roger Holden, Mike Houghton, Rob Macintosh, Zoë Viggers, Sarah Barratt, Nell Trotter.
l Tavistock Hockey Club is holding its annual meeting in the Ordulph Arms in Tavistock next month ? and the club?s committee is urging as many members as possible to attend.
Secretary Phil Honey said: ?This is a crucial year for our developing club and we hope people can make the effort to attend.?
The event begins at 7.30pm on Thursday May 8 ? all members welcome.
