DARE I ask via your letters page for another consultation by the borough and town councils? I believe that the street names for the new develoment at Bishopsmead have yet to be decided. It?s only a little nod towards democracy in election year, I realise, but perhaps instead of ? as seems to be the usual practice ? councillors privately choosing the names, including those of recently retired councillors, for the new streets and then presenting them to us electors of Tavistock as a done deal, we could have a public competition to name them? The competition could be to select which British native species of trees should be represented in the names, in the spirit of the mature Bishopsmead estate street names.
