WINNIE the Pooh came to Hatherleigh recently when the Hatherleigh Young Players gave two performances of ?Winnie the Pooh and Friends?.

The show was produced and directed by Jane Francis Curtoys, whose dancing, skill and overall vision were evident in the wonderful performances the children gave.

The packed audience at Hatherleigh Town Hall on Friday, May 9 and Saturday, May 10, applauded the young cast for their professional production.

Playing Christopher Robin ? and many other male parts ? was Ben Winter, the only boy among 21 children.

The age of the youngsters involved in the play ranged from the youngest who was just 10 up to 14.

Adam Swainson played the piano, accompanying all the songs which were sung and played with enthusiasm and gusto.

There were poems, songs and dances interspersed between scenes from the well-known ?House at Pooh Corner? books. Other parts were played by Eliza and Jessica Squire, Emily Winter, Lynn Vallance, Terri Grant, Samantha Ward, Shivani Price, Flo Cooper, Jenny Barnett, Andy Hill, Rosie Tame, Martha Fawcett and Chloe Pitts.

The Hatherleigh Young Players would like to thank Cindy Squire and Mandy Wonnacott who made some truly inspired costumes and all the people who came along to support the production.

They would also like to thank the members of Hatherleigh Players for running the backstage area and the front of house.
