Work has begun on replacing the changing cubicles at Meadowlands Leisure Pool in Tavistock. The swimming pool is owned by West Devon Borough Council and in recent months the authority has installed new boilers, a new air conditioning unit, an ultra violet water treatment plant, and new showers. The pool is managed on the council's behalf by Leisure Connection, which has also invested in the refurbishment programme by installing new lockers and the new cubicles. As a final improvement, both the council and Leisure Connection have agreed jointly to fund replacement of the ceiling tiles which will be carried out towards the end of the year. Cllr Chris Jenkins, chairman of the borough council's environment and community committee, said: 'Meadowlands Pool is now 20 years old and we have made some significant investments in the operational functions with new boilers and filtration systems, and customer facilities with new cubicles and lockers. 'Further investment is planned to replace the ceiling tiles and upgrade the temperature controls and circulation pumps. 'In preparation for the 20th anniversary, Leisure Connection is refurbishing the reception and other customer facilities in order to bring the pool right up to date.' Jeremy Bradbury, regional manager for Leisure Connection, said: 'The cubicles represent our continued drive to improve the overall service at Meadowlands.'
