A WEST Devon resident will be doing his bit to help people in the community tackle environmental issues in the New Year. Greg Brown of Highampton recently completed a DEFRA sponsored course for voluntary ?community champions?, his role being to promote understanding of challenges local communities face now and in the near future such as fossil fuel depletion and environmental pressures. Greg said: ?I am delighted to become a part of the community champion project. ?It is very gratifying to be part of an organisation that aims to break down what seem difficult challenges into bite size chunks. ?I will be working at a local level with parish councils, groups, associations, and in the workplace, helping groups to implement very localised initiatives ?that may just mean stopping using disposable plastic cups at meetings, or tackling a local fly tipping problem. ?The fact is, every single action counts, however small.?
