I MUST say that I am appalled that Tavistock Town Council has agreed to award Mr and Mrs Turner (the town crier and his wife) the meagre sum of £300 toward travelling costs to Bermuda. Does the council realise the price of a return ticket to Bermuda is at least £700 each? If the couple is representing Tavistock at this competition then the full amount for travelling should be met, and then the Turners would fund their accommodation themselves. Elaine Cooper  Tavistock
