HARRY Andrews has been one of Britain's top singer/songwriters as well as an engaging raconteur for more than 35 years.

He brings his entertaining music and wit to the Wharf, Tavistock on Saturday, February 12 at 8pm.

Here is a performer who is able to pick up on the minutiae of life and imbue it with significance. His songs are whimsical without being fey, heartfelt without being sentimental. As well as the singing his set is peppered with monologues reflecting his thoughts on fatherhood, ageing and the battle of the sexes.

Harry has produced 13 albums of which nine are now available on CD. His second 'Writer of Songs' has exceeded 100,000 sales.

He is a popular performer and has appeared an numerous major festivals in Britain and North America — including no less than five Cambridge Festivals. Harry has also played in such impresive venues as the Queen Elizabeth Hall, Birmingham's Hipppodrome Theatre, Liverpool Empire, London Festival Hall and Reading Rock Festival.

In 1996 he was voted International Artiste of the Year in the Canadian Porcupine Awards for Folk Music. Harry's songs have been covered by a whole army of his fellow professionals including Christy Moore, Mary Hopkins, Max Boyce, Ian McIntosh, the Haughton Weavers, Johnny Collins and many more.

The lyrics of one of his songs was issued in the course work for the national GCSE English Language examination.

Fans may have seen him on TV's 'The Old Grey Whistle Test' and 'Rhythm On Two' and he has hosted BBC Radio's 'Folk On Two' as well as having a 'Kaleidoscope Special' devoted to his work.
