ON behalf of the Tavistock Corps of the Salvation Army, I wish to thank the town and around public for the magnificent response they gave to the Army's Annual Red Shield Appeal.

The total raised this year was £2,222; an increase on last year of 27%. Included in this are donations provided by the congregations of St Eustachius Parish and St Andrew's, Buckland Monachorum, Churches.

The Red Shield Appeal (formally Self-Denial) is an international fund raising event to assist the Salvation Army's Social Services Worldwide.

Many thanks to all who contributed.

JEREMY and Vivienne would like to say a very big thank you to everybody who came to our fun day making it a huge success and thank you to those who made a donation towards our raffle.

We managed to raise a grand total of £800 which we have divided equally between our chosen charities, Radio Devon Chestnut Appeal for prostate cancer, and Charity for Parkinson's disease.

We would never have managed to raise such a large amount in one day without everybody's kind help and support.

We were blessed with a fantastic day weather wise and everybody who attended left saying what a great day they'd had. It really was a fun day. Thank you to everybody involved.

SO many thanks to all the very generous people of Tavistock and the surrounding area for their response to the recent NSPCC collection. The total raised was £666.86.

Our special thanks to all who helped, including the great support provided by Safeway Superstore and the Bedford Hotel.

All the money will be used to help children at risk in our area.

We are in great need of more helpers to raise funds for this very important work. Please phone 01822 832346 if you would be able to help.

With very many thanks again to all who contributed.
