A DOG belonging to a man who died on Dartmoor earlier this year has found his 'forever home', after being rehomed by a local rescue centre. In February this year, the body of missing man Alistair Conhey was found on Dartmoor after a two-day search and rescue operation, and his dog, Rory, was taken to Margaret Green Animal Rescue near Tavistock to be looked after. Mr Conhey had adopted Rory from the rescue centre and they had a very special bond. Following Mr Conhey's death, staff at Margaret Green Animal Rescue cared for Rory while they waited for the appropriate authorities to give the go-ahead that Rory could be rehomed. It was not long before this special dog found his perfect companion. Rory now spends his days with Roger and they enjoy exploring Dartmoor together. Roger said: 'It is unbelievable how popular Rory is with everybody, he is a right little charmer. 'Everybody has to stop and talk to him and even throw his ball for him, there is hardly a minute goes by without somebody talking to him or playing with him.' Niki Ging, who manages Margaret Green Animal Rescue's Wingletang Centre with her husband Alan, said: 'We all knew when we had found the perfect home for Rory. 'Not a minute goes by where he isn't with Roger and that is just perfect for him. 'It was very hard for everyone to see how traumatised Rory was after he lost Mr Conhey, so to see him so happy now is a true joy.' MGAR rescues and re-homes more than 1,200 animals each year including dogs, cats, horses, farm animals, rabbits and guinea pigs to name but a few.
