A CELEBRATION will take place in Calstock on Sunday (March 7) when a plaque is unveiled marking the centenary of the Tamar Valley Line.

The plaque, designed by Albaston artist Rosie Fierek, is situated on the corner of Sand Lane and Lower Kelly where there is also a spectacular view of the Calstock Viaduct.

Calstock town councillor Dorothy Kirk said the plaque would be a permanent memorial of the centenary of the line which was celebrated last year.

'People walking up Sand Hill will see this little memorial plaque in perpetuity and the Devon and Cornwall Rail Partnership have arranged for the train crossing the viaduct at 2.15pm on the day of the unveiling to give a little toot.'

Anyone is welcome to attend.
