Tavistock Men's B 5
Penzance A 4
RECENTLY relegated from a higher division, Penzance A travelled to the Kelly College pitch expecting to take all the points. Yet as the weather settled overhead, storms brewed over the visitors' goal as Tavistock took an unexpected goal lead through a Damien Heard goal.
Rejuvenated by the reward for their early play, Tavistock took a two goal lead as Pete Robson swept in and slammed the ball home. However, the visitors then finally showed their potential by pulling back a goal almost immediately from the re-start.
A late Bob Cowen penalty flick regained the home side's two-goal cushion going into half-time.
The second half started with more pace, as Tavistock successfully defended an onslaught of attacks from Penzance. However, Penzance finally pulled a goal back to halve the home side's lead, with Paul Mason, Scott Dickson and Pete Robson taking the brunt of the Penzance tackles.
Damien Heard then scored again after some great counter-attacking play from the home side, as Tavistock looked to have put themselves out of sight.
Instead Penzance ferociously clawed back two goals, making the most of flaring tempers throughout both sides.
A last-gasp goal from Bob Cowen, straight from a short corner, sealed the points for a relieved Tavistock side.
