OKEHAMPTON Friendly Circle held its harvest festival on October 5 in the Charter Hall.
The chair, Mrs P Squire, welcomed the Mayor Cllr Michael Morse and the Rev Darren Pike, minister of the Baptist Church, who gave an interesting service. He had a board with the word 'Hate' on it, and telling a story, and with moving the letters, he turned it into 'Love'. After refreshments, the auction was held. The mayor and Mrs Squire made a good job of it and raised £145.50.
Thanks were expressed to members who supplied a wonderful display of harvest goods or gave a donation. The mayor and Mr Pike were thanked by Mrs Squire.
The next meeting is on Tuesday November 2, when tickets will be sold for the Christmas dinner, which will be on Tuesday December 14, priced £9.
