RESIDENTS of West Devon Homes? Briar Tor sheltered scheme at Yelverton packed into their common room to say a final ?goodbye? to their resident scheme manager recently.

Jim Martin, chairman of the residents? committee, presented Brenda Burridge, who has worked at Briar Tor for eight years, with a bunch of flowers and a bottle of wine. Muriel Clay-Thomas, the treasurer of the committee, also made a collection on behalf of residents.

During a very emotional farewell Brenda gave some advice to the people she is leaving behind: ?Carry on treating all your neighbours and friends as you would like to be treated - and you?ll get along fine!?

The catering was provided by Jane Carpenter and Peggy Tapley, who regularly run a lunch club for the residents at Briar Tor.

Also attending the event was the Rev Richard Tebbs and his wife Lynn, who described Brenda as having ?wings and a halo? and said she would be ?a hard act to follow?!

Brenda is, however, staying with the West Devon Homes and has taken up a new position as housing assistant, based in the Tavistock office.
