It's all brought to life through ghostly video-projected sequences, which interlock and interact with the live action.
Anthony Richards, artistic director, said: 'As the foot and mouth crisis caused a late cancellation of our summer tour, we started work immediately on an indoor show to take its place.'
The story of the meanie who turns nice at the end is a classic family tale and is suitable for all.
The Exeter-based Common Players specialise in popular theatre, served up with a big helping of humour.
A Christmas Carol is on tour across Devon throughout December and January.
Tour dates include: The Plough Arts Centre, Torrington, tonight and tomorrow (Friday) December 6 and 7; Moretonhampstead Parish Hall, December 14; Nicholls Hall, Lydford, December 15; Phoenix Arts Centre, Exeter, December 26-30.
