MORE than 24 organisations will be at Tavistock's Bedford Square for an exciting community event with a special bonus for dog owners and cyclists. West Devon Borough Council's Connect service is co-ordinating Tavistock Community Morning which takes place between 10am and 1pm on Saturday (September 6). There will be something for everyone at the event including a wealth of free information and advice about a range of public and support services. Devon and Cornwall Police will be there to register and fit Selectamark security kits to bicycles which help to deter thieves and aid the recovery of stolen bikes. The kits usually cost £5 but will be available on the day for a donation to the Devon Air Ambulance thanks to a grant from West Devon Borough and Devon County Councillor Debo Sellis. Animal welfare charity, Dogs Trust, will be offering free micro-chipping for dogs. It normally costs around £20 and will be compulsory for all dogs by 2016. There is also the chance to help shape the future of West Devon by getting involved with developing Our Plan — the borough's strategic plan for community needs and council services between now and 2031. Residents are urged to come along and have their say on the plan which covers vital issues including homes, jobs, buildings, energy needs and land use. For anyone who has a problem getting transport to medical appointments, it's worth popping along to the Tavistock Area Support Services stand. The charity has been helping to support people over 55 from Tavistock and surrounding areas since 1985. A host of other organisations will be represented at the event including Devon Wheels 2 Work, Action on Hearing Loss, Dartmoor National Park Authority, Tavistock Community Sports  Centre, South West Water, Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service and Learn Devon — among others.    The whole morning will be hosted by an advisor from the borough council who will be able to help with questions about all kinds of council services from benefits to recycling.
