A NEW shop in Okehampton is proof that creativity and inspiration can help the community pull through these tough economic times.
Doodlepotz Ceramic Café opened at 6 East Street on January 29, and so far has proved a resounding success, showing that Okehampton is still a thriving town.
The café gives people the opportunity to paint their own personalised pottery and enjoy a cake and drink at the same time.
It is open for people of all ages, and for individuals or groups.
The shop was opened by Lisa Marden, a former teaching assistant at Okehampton Primary School.
Lisa said: 'We're doing well, particularly at the weekends. It's not an expensive thing for families to do, and I think during this time, it's really important for families to be able to spend time together.
'We've had children's birthday parties, all the way up to old age pensioners, and everyone has absolutely loved it.
'I think with all the doom and gloom around at the moment, it's something to give people a bit of happiness.
'We've had people saying how great it is to have this shop in Okehampton, because previously they had to go to Exeter — so this is keeping people in Okehampton too, which is great for the whole town.'
