Tamar A
St Stephens v
Tavistock thirds
IT was a slow start from Tavistock openers Dhanjal and Skinner against some good bowling from the St Stephens pair Court and Dore. They upped the run rate but at the cost of losing their wickets. The middle order of Parisio (26) and Bellamy (23) pushed the rate along briefly, but with their fall the fragility of the Tavistock tail was soon exposed by change bowlers Lugger and Yeo. With four wickets a piece the pair tore through the tail with Tavistock scoring a modest 121 all out.
The Tavistock bowlers were frustrated for several overs by stout resistance from M Stokes (12) and E Stokes (39). The fall of M Stokes to Bellamy and E Stokes to Folley led to other wickets fell in quick succession. Bellamy's pace and accuracy earned four wickets in his spell. Yeo (27) and Stephens (11) came to St Stephens rescue taking their side to the brink of victory. One last effort from Tavistock came with Yeo falling to Parisio and Stephens to Westlake, but it was too late.
This was a good close contest played in a good competitive spirit.
Tavistock's last minute wicket keeper Andy Coad was superb, with no byes and taking a sharp catch.
