ALL of us must be absolutely delighted that the lottery bid for a new sports centre in town has been successful.
This is a truly great achievement and a tribute to all those mentioned in your article (February 20), including West Devon Borough Council, councillors, the mayor, school staff and other sports personnel.
Okehampton is a boom town in every way, not only in health, education and housing, but also now in sport.
I was also personally delighted to witness a tremendous victory last Saturday at Okehampton Rugby Club which turned out to be more exciting than the subsequent England v France game!
The town and its locality has really become a centre of excellence in all these areas and we are very fortunate that our leaders in these different areas have dedicated so much of their spare time to these visionary aims.
