SIX abseiling 'James Bonds' and an Oscar-winning sound editor are scheduled to appear at this year's Chagford Film Festival.
Oscar-winning sound editor Norman Wanstall, who won the Academy Award for Sound Effects for his work on Goldfinger, will be taking part in one of the many workshops during the week-long festival later this month.
Wanstall's Oscar success was the first for a Bond film, and is one of only two for the entire James Bond franchise. He also worked on Dr No, From Russia With Love, Thunderball, You Only Live Twice and Never Say Never Again.
Building on the success of last year's inaugural festival, organisers have a James Bond themed extravaganza planned, showcasing 50 years of Bond movies.
Six brave volunteers have all entered into the spirit of the festivities and signed up to abseil down the tower of St Michael's Church.
Enterprising organisers have written to all six actors to have played Bond, some of the Bond girls and villains, and notable figures to have worked on Bond, with mixed results.
Sir Sean Connery and Dame Shirley Bassey have already sent their apologies and regards to the team behind the event.
Mary French, one of the organisers, said: 'We are appealing for a real Bond girl or villain to see the fun in all of this and come along for a weekend of festivities on Dartmoor, and even a pink limo ride round the Pepper Pot in the Square.
'Our red carpet may be a little shorter than they are used to but it's still pretty impressive. Who could resist? We have one Bond star, wouldn't it be lovely to have two or three?'
Throughout the festival, visitors will be able to watch films from the 'golden age' of Hollywood, visit a vintage mobile cinema, and attend workshops held by film industry professionals.
Highlights include the world premiere of 'The Ballad of Mary Whyddon', a film by the Chagford Filmmaking Group.
It tells the story of a young bride shot on her wedding day in 1641 as England was on the brink of civil war.
The film will be projected onto the side of St Michael's Church in a nod to the Diamond Jubilee light show on Buckingham Palace earlier this year.
The festival will run a week from Monday, September 24 to Saturday, September 29. Tickets and further information on the festival are available from the Globe Inn on 01647 433485.
