POLICE are asking local residents to be alert following a walk-in burglary in the Redmoor Close area of Tavistock.

On Thursday, March 9 or Friday, March 10, a thief or thieves walked into a home through an unlocked door and helped themselves to a handbag and contents, most probably during the day.

The victim was unfortunately not very well and as a result did not notice the theft for a day, but reported the loss as soon as they realised what had happened. They now keep the property thoroughly secure and police are asking that other local people do the same.

Officers want to hear from anyone in the town who has had any sort of old callers such as offers of repairs or people saying they are from a public utility such as the water authority, or anyone who may have knocked on the door for any reason.

Sgt Dave Anning or any of the detectives at Tavistock Police Station would like to hear from anyone who has had such an experience. Contact police on 101.
