DETECTIVES in Okehampton are appealing for information after a burglary at a detached house on the outskirts of town.
The house close to Whitehouse Services was burgled on the afternoon of Thursday, July 5 while the occupants were away from home.
Little of value was taken but the intruders caused extensive damage.
Witnesses are sought for the burglary, which took place between 2.40pm and 4.30pm.
The address is the only property between the exit off the A30 towards Okehampton at Whitehouse Services and the slip road leading back onto the A30 towards Launceston.
‘Police would be keen to hear from anyone who was in this area between these times and saw any other vehicle parked up near to this location or saw anyone on foot going towards or from the direction of this property,’ said DC Gavin Jordan of Okehampton CID.
‘Additionally, police would be grateful to hear from anyone who has any information at all about who may be responsible.’
Police can be contacted by phoning 101 and quoting CR/059960/18 or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
‘Okehampton police would like to reassure local residents that house burglaries of this type are rare in our community, but that it is particularly important during warm weather to check the security of downstairs windows when leaving your house for any period of time,’ said DC Jordan.
‘Investigators would like to make clear that the occupier of these particular burgled premises had done everything reasonable to keep their property secure.’
