AN attempted property entry, a white van with occupants asking for scrap metal and car thefts feature in this week’s #newsfromtheblues police page.
• TWO cars were broken into while parked in the Postbridge area on July 9 and property was stolen.
The first break-in was between 10.30am and noon which saw a driver’s side window smashed and a wallet stolen. CR/055883/17. The second was between 2pm and 3pm and saw a handbag stolen. CR/055953/17. Inside the handbag was a wallet and the PIN number for a bank card which was written on a piece of paper.
A man in his 70s walking his dog was seen acting suspiciously at the time of the second break-in. The victim said they called the bank and were told that £300 had been withdrawn from two ATM machines. A spokesperson from the police believed the two incidents to be linked.
• LEAD flashing was stolen from a property on Mulberry Grove, Bishopsmead, between a 24-hour period from midnight on July 10. CR/056999/17.
• A BLOW-up rubber dingy was stolen from the River Tavy in Peter Tavy between 2pm on July 8 and 8pm on July 10. The rope was cut while the dingy was moored on a private part on the river in Coads Wood. CR/057026/17.
• POLICE are appealing for witnesses after an attempted entry occurred at a property in Netherton Estate in Buckland Monachorum between midnight on July 1 to 12.45pm on July 13. CR/057416/17.
• POLICE are asking people to be vigilant and keep an eye open for a white van and its occupants who have been driving around Tavistock and local areas asking people for scrap metal. If you are concerned call 999 immediately, and if possible take the registration number of the vehicle and the direction the van was travelling.
