The theft of a defibrillator, a house burglary and a skipped taxi fare feature in the Okehampton area crimes this week.
• HEARTLESS thieves have stolen a defibrillator from outside Hallwill Village Hall sometime overnight on Tuesday, September 19 to Wednesday, September 20. The box was opened and the defibrillator taken sometime between 6pm on the Tuesday and 11am on the Wednesday. Crime reference number CR/081421/17.
• A WOMAN stole a tin of Roses chocolates from McColl’s on Fore Street, Okehampton on Monday evening, 18 September. She entered the shop with two children and a pushchair and after buying her shopping went to leave. As she was leaving, she put the tin of Roses on top of the pushchair. CR/080602/17.
• POLICE are appealing for anyone with information about a burglary at a house in Okehampton to come forward. Offenders broke into a house on Moyses Lane and stole a mobile phone and a bank card sometime in the early hours of Wednesday, September 20. The police are also reminding residents to ensure that their property is secure. CR/08113817.
• A MAN ran off without paying a £12.30 taxi fare in Sticklepath near Okehampton on Saturday evening, September 16. He dropped off four of the passengers in Okehampton, where they paid their share of the bill, but the fifth man asked the driver to take him onto the Taw River Inn in Sticklepath. Here, he absconded without paying his bill of £12.30. CR079780/17.
• DOG owners are being reminded that while it is legal to allow dogs off their lead during walks in certain areas, it is their responsibility to keep their pets under control and will be held fully accountable should their pets attack livestock, other pets or people.
