A FIREARMS team carried out an arrest at Wetherspoons in Okehampton in the early hours of Monday morning (July 31).

Police received information that people were staying in The White Hart who were wanted in connection for offences made outside of the Devon and Cornwall force area.

A firearms team carried out the arrest to ensure safety of all those involved — one man was arrested in The White Hart and two further men were arrested elsewhere in Okehampton. The men were also arrested for a burglary in Exeter.

Okehampton DS Bev Havis said: ‘I want to thank Wetherspoons for its cooperation during this arrest — no-one was hurt and it was a contained incident.’

One of the suspects was taken to Metropolitan Police, London, on Tuesday morning.
